About Stride

Stride turns your target running pace into a cadence in steps per minute, then builds or filters a playlist so every song matches your stride.

Who it's for

Runners and walkers who want their music to hold them to a consistent rhythm. Instead of thinking in beats per minute, you pick the pace you want to run — Stride does the conversion and finds music that lands on it. Everyone from a 20-minute-mile walker to a sub-5 sprinter is covered.

How it works

1. Tell Stride your height

Stride asks for your height once. Taller runners cover more ground per step, so height changes the cadence needed to hold a given pace. It is stored only in your browser.

2. Set a target pace

Move the pace slider anywhere from a brisk walk to a sprint. A second slider shows the cadence in steps per minute that matches it, calculated live from your height. Quick-select chips cover common efforts like Easy Jog and Fast Tempo.

3. Build a playlist, or filter one you already have

Build from scratch by choosing a genre and a duration, and Stride assembles roughly an hour of songs whose tempo matches your cadence. Or paste a public Spotify playlist link and Stride looks up every track's real tempo and keeps only the songs that fit.

4. Get it into your music player

Copy the playlist as Spotify track URIs and paste straight into the Spotify desktop app, or export as a CSV, an .m3u file, a copyable tracklist, or a public share link. Apple Music and YouTube Music search links are included for every track.

How Stride uses Spotify

You don't need to connect your Spotify account or log in to use Stride. When you paste a public Spotify playlist link, Stride's server reads the track list using an app-level token, looks up each song's tempo from independent music databases, and returns the filtered playlist to you. The server never sees your Spotify password, listening history, or private playlists.

To move a playlist into Spotify, copy the provided block of Spotify track URIs and paste it directly into a new playlist in the Spotify desktop app. No account connection is required.

Tempo data is not taken from Spotify. It comes from independent music databases — GetSongBPM, Deezer, and MusicBrainz/AcousticBrainz — and is cached as plain public metadata so lookups stay fast.
